Then in the temple their holy book called the ‘Guru Granth Sahib's taken out following some rituals and then it is read from the start till the end without taking a break. Even the holy book is the part of the procession.
This procession is guarded by five people who carry along with them the flags depicting Sikhism. In the gurudwaras special programs are arranged and also langars take place.
Langars means giving lunch. On this day lunch is given to each and every person who comes to the gurudwaras. All the people take the responsibility to cook food and serve it to the people as a service to their religion.
Guru Nanak's teachings were very simple and very easy to follow in real life. He had a far sighted vision. He lived many years beyond his life. He always taught people that no pleasure is greater than the pace of mind and to achieve one has to live life on the principles of love and contentment.
His followers carry his message and preach it where ever they go. He never believed in caste and racism. He always said that all are children of God, no one is superior or inferior, and our thinking only makes us one.
People have immense faith in Guru Nanak because he spoke directly what God asked him to speak. He did not follow any Guru he only followed the path shown to him by God himself. This is the greatness of Guru Nanak. |
