The dummies made out of cloth are stuffed with cotton and loads of fire crackers which are later burnt by a person who is dressed as Rama as he shoots a arrow with fire lit at its head towards the dummy of Ravana snuffed with explosives. This is done as the sun sets.
Dussehra is celebrated with loads of excitement all over the country. In Delhi skits based on Ramayana known as Ramleela are presented by theatre groups everywhere.
These skits also show how Rama, his wife Sita and his brother Laxman who were sent in exile for fourteen years faced all the atrocities boldly.
After the Ramleela ends processions are taken out on the streets with children dressed as Ram and his Brother Laxman. People of all age groups take part in this Ramleela. This festival lasts for ten days. Dussehra is celebrated all over the country and huge preparations are done for this festival.
Whole family visits temple and watches skits together. Everybody is happy during this festival. This festival brings up a positive attitude n everybody and all are encouraged to do well and fight the evil.
Indirectly this festival brings everybody together as after the day is over small gatherings in the household are held and all relatives and friends are invited and quality is spent with each other. |
