Sweets and snacks are prepared and given to all the neighbors. All the houses are decorated with streamers and small lanterns are put up in the balcony.
No house can be without a Christmas tree decorated with glitters and sweets and a huge star at the top. Decorating the Christmas tree is real fun as the whole family does it together.
In many houses on a table statues are kept depicting that the Lord is born. Jesus is shown in a crib and all the kings are shown giving him gifts and the angels of Gabriel are seen blessing the new born baby. It is a big day for everyone.
Everyone gathers in the community hall and celebrates Christmas. Children in Delhi go from house to house singing carols, the famous one being 'silent night’. Even churches arrange for special carol singers who sing in the church. The major attraction for children in this festival is a fat old man named Santa Claus.
He is very famous among the kids because he gives them gift on the Christmas night. When everybody goes to sleep Santa slowly comes and keeps gift in the Christmas tree which the children are delighted to see. It's actually the elder who keep in gifts for their children.
The whole Delhi city shines with light on Christmas. Delhi is worth watching on this day. As the day ends everyone is happy and all party that day to express their happiness. |
