He tried to eradicate superstition from people's mind. He taught people that no thing should be done without knowing the reason behind it.
His teachings were all such that even a common man could relate to it. He was completely detached from the materialistic world and hence he attained enlightenment and is also known as the ‘enlightened one’.
His teachings always tried to free people who were suffering from a problem which lied within them only. He made people believe in themselves so that they could face the world.
The two places of pilgrimage for Buddhist are, Sarnath and Bodhgaya. India was the birth place if Buddhism but many Indians did not adopt it but Buddhism is very much prevalent in northern Asia. Emperor Ashoka-The Great also helped him to spread Buddhism. Buddha himself traveled many places to spread his teachings.
He had many followers who even after his death kept his name going. He has been an example for many and still continues to be for many. His teachings were based on the truth of life, on what exactly goes on in everybody's life.
This great man attained ‘nirvana’ at the age of 80. Till this time of his life he only worked towards beautifying the human soul and always helping the ones who still did not realize what they were doing. This enlightened one always thought for the betterment of people and tried it till this last breath. |
