Various details about the locomotives are available here along with the years in which they were used. Many different models of a selection of trains and locomotives are kept here on display. Over the last 150 years, statistics about all the trains that were in use in India are kept here. The entire history of the railway system in India is offered at this museum.
There are many trains that are put up on display here. The most famous ones that are found here are the vintage or antique models of trains.
These include trains right from the British times including the first train that operated in India in 1853 from Mumbai to Thane. Other exhibits include the rich and fancy carriages of the princes and maharajas.
The interior as well as exterior of these carriages is indeed very artistic. Visitors are allowed to walk inside the exhibits so as to get an actual feel of what is must have been to travel in these trains.
The Rail Museum, Delhi is one of the city prime tourist attractions as it is not only a fun place to visit, but also is very informative. Railway enthusiasts should make it a point to visit this museum at least once while in the city.
