This city also offers a kaleidoscope of Indian ethnicity and development. Haridwar, at times also recognized as Mayapuri, Kapila and Gangadwar is an imperative spot of entrance to Dev Bhoomi and Char Dham which are the four most significant centers of pilgrimage in Uttarakhand which are known as the Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
Haridwar is hardly about 3 to 4 hour drive from Delhi as one has to travel close to 250 kms. A very religious and holy place, Haridwar is the peak from where the Ganges surfaces from the Himalayas to commence its leisurely movement diagonally from the plains.
As you reach haridwar you can choose to check into Glass House on the Ganges which is very famous and popular with tourist and visitors alike.
This glass house used to be a clandestine garden- of the great “Maharajas of Tehri Garhwal”. Perfectly placed in the midst of a litchi orchard features a garden of stifling plants, flora and fauna. Reckoned to be a very propitious and lucky as it is only place from where the Ganges flows towards the north.
You could also make some time in the afternoon to go and check out the Har ki Pairi and Mansa Devi Temple which are most talked about. In the evening you could also be present at the Sunset Ganga Aarti which takes place at the bank of river. |
